Vincent Charles Tumeo II, aka Vincent Tumeo (professionally) was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio until the age of 24. Tumeo's earliest public performance was singing and dancing at the age of four, when he also commenced his 12 years of classical training as a dancer. He later studied as a singer being classically trained for 14 years under Cantor Nathan Lam, the late Douglas Decatur to include four years with Joan Lader. Tumeo began his acting career in regional theatre and danced professionally in repertory companies up to the age of 19. He continued his Fine Arts studies at the Columbus College of Art & Design as a Potter and Ceramist; ultimately forfeiting a career in Fine Arts for the Performing Arts. In 1986 Tumeo then moved to South Florida where he continued his professional career as a triple threat, earning his S.A.G. card and also became "Equity Eligible." Two years later Tumeo moved to Southern California where he booked work as a dancer and actor in numerous television commercials with both Film and Made-For-T.V. movies. While on tour in Great Britain in 1992, Tumeo booked a spot as a male vocalist, on Ed McMahon's Star Search where he competed and won seven consecutive episodes winning the semi-finals and securing a spot in the finals, his ninth appearance. HIs 1993 season was shared with a young Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Beyonce, along with Dave Chappelle and Beth Hart. Later that year, he had a week long run headlining as a singer in his one man show, directed by David Galligan with musical direction by Norman Bergen, at the renowned Hollywood Roosevelt's Cinegrill. Shortly thereafter, Tumeo embarked upon what would become his Broadway career when he landed a principle role starring in both the L.A. and N.Y.C. American premiere of Lloyd-Webers' adaptation of SUNSET BLVD., as "Artie Green." He had the privilege of working with Glenn Close, Betty Buckley and George Hearn. Upon arriving in the 'Big Apple,' Tumeo opened for Liza Minelli at the FIGHT FOR SIGHT FOUNDATIONS annual fund-raising concert held at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway where he shared the stage with Joel Grey, Alan Arkin and the late Laurie Beechman. Tumeo turned in one-thousand performances of SUNSET BLVD. and was also cast to sing on Frank Wildhorn's JECKEL & HYDE (the definitive album), placing two cast albums under his belt. In the Summer of 1996, after a long courtship from director Jeff Calhoun, Tumeo left SUNSET BLVD. to accept an offer to star as "Danny Zuko" in Tommy Tune's revival of GREASE-playing opposite Sheena Easton and Tracy Nelson at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Broadway. Tumeo enjoyed a brief stint in the out-of-town 'try-out' of DREAM at the Tennessee Repertory Company, directed and choreographed by Wayne Cilento starring opposite Lesley Ann Warren. Tumeo was sought out for many workshop productions of new works, simultaneous to his performing on Broadway. Tumeo had the privilege of working with the late Marshall Barer and then, twice with the late Cy Coleman in Coleman's re-working of WELCOME TO THE CLUB entitled, COURTROOM CANTADA staged at the Westbeth Theatre in NYC. In 1997, Tumeo was cast in the Roundabout theatre's workshop production staring as "Alfie" in ANYONE WHO HAS A HEART, directed and choreographed by Gillian Lynne with book by Kenny Solms. This show encomed nearly the entire catalog of Bacharach's compositions, in which Tumeo was given the freedom to create new arrangements of some of Burt Bacharach's greatest hits. The show was later renamed WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW at La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla CA, performed with a different cast. In the Summer of 1997, Tumeo returned to California from a four year run on Broadway and was asked to an all-star cast for the N.P.R.'s live-Broadcast of Studs Terkel's WORKING, directed by Scott Schwartz at the Skirball Center. WORKING was part of the L.A. Theatre Works "The Play's The Thing" Radio Theatre Series adding to Tumeo's repertoire as his third cast album credit. Tumeo continued to dance in many period films where he's often featured with his dance partner of 22 years Cecilie Stuart. Some films include: SALSA, MAMBO KINGS, LAMBADA, BARTON FINK, POSEIDON, FIRST DAUGHTER and WINCHELL. His experiences throughout his career have afforded him to work with some of the most renowned choreographers and professional dancers in the industry. Presently, Tumeo resides in Long Beach, CA with his wife, Michelle, of nearly twelve years.
